KBL Kitchen and Bath Designs by Leah – Kitchen Remodel Overview

This kitchen remodel was a complete transformation, beginning with a total demolition. We removed a wall between the kitchen and living room to create an open-concept space and eliminated the existing center island, which housed the cooktop. Additionally, the pantry under the stairs was removed, and a short wall was pushed back to allow the refrigerator to be positioned at counter depth. This adjustment also created space for a new floor-to-ceiling pantry.

To accommodate updated lighting and switches, much of the drywall was removed and replaced for new electrical wiring. The plumbing for the old sink was eliminated, and new plumbing was installed for the island sink and dishwasher. When the old island was removed, sections of the hardwood flooring were missing, requiring us to seamlessly integrate new hardwood planks, sand the entire floor, and refinish it for a cohesive look.

The cabinetry selection featured classic white shaker-style cabinets. Under the staircase, we converted a previously unused space into a coffee nook with a floating shelf. On the opposite side of the island, we created an additional built-in storage nook with wall sconces above for added functionality and aesthetic appeal.

A new 44” x 96” island was constructed, incorporating a Ruvati kitchen sink workstation, dishwasher, and pull-out garbage bin. The opposite side of the island was designed as a seating area, with additional storage cabinets installed under the counter at one end.

Along the exterior wall, we installed a built-in under-counter microwave, a slide-in range with an oven, and a stainless-steel vent hood that vents to the outside. The wall cabinets were extended to the ceiling for a more streamlined and spacious design.

The countertops were crafted from Calcuta Leon quartz, offering a timeless and elegant look, while the backsplash featured classic white subway tiles to enhance the bright and modern aesthetic.

This remodel successfully blended functionality with a contemporary design, maximizing storage and efficiency while creating a beautiful, open, and inviting kitchen space.
